Sustainability and renewal of natural resources

OUR APPROACH

Earth’s natural resources are finite. The fauna, flora, water, air and soil that are all essential to life on Earth are steadily degrading. With this in mind, Avipro is determined to maintain an ecological balance by reducing the impact of its activities. We are committed to improving our packaging to ensure it is less harmful, to sourcing our raw materials responsibly and to continue innovating by conceiving eco-friendly solutions that control and reduce our energy consumption, valorise our waste and effectively treat our effluents.

CONTROL AND OPTIMISE OUR CONSUMPTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES


ENERGY

  • We reduce our energy consumption by using equipment that is less energy-intensive, while sensitising our employees to best practices
  • We use renewable energy by equipping all our farms with solar water heaters

MANAGE OUR IMPACT ON FORESTS

  • By using wood procured from sustainably managed forests and optimising our paper consumption

IMPROVE OUR PACKAGING

  • Exit polystyrene: it will no longer be used in our packaging and will instead be replaced by a more durable and compostable material. Enter trays made of bagasse in December 2020.
  • We are working on developing eco-friendly packaging alternatives for our other products.

REDUCE THE IMPACT OF OUR EFFLUENTS AND WASTE


TREAT OUR EFFLUENTS AND WASTEWATER

  • 90% of the wastewater from our sites is treated; water purification systems will be installed on all our sites by 2023.

VALORISING OUR WASTE

  • Organic waste from the slaughterhouse will be recycled in our factory, which is currently under construction and is scheduled to be operational in 2021.
  • By recovering recyclable solid waste; all our sites are already equipped with waste sorting bins (paper, cardboard, plastic, batteries, neon lights, used oils) and waste is collected by approved recyclers.
